International Women’s Day

Women are the real architects of society. Every year on March 8, we celebrate Women’s Day to honor local women. International studies show that when a society’s economy and political organization change, women help families adapt to new realities and challenges. Women simultaneously play the roles of wife, partner, organizer, administrator, director, regenerator, distributor, economist, mother, disciplinary, teacher, health officer, artist, and queen in the family. Also, a woman plays a key role in the socio-economic development of a society. Women’s empowerment is essential for the development of a society because it increases both the quality and quantity of human resources available for development.

Teacher’s Day

Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 5th September every year in India. It is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India and a great scholar. Teacher’s Day is an important occasion for all organizations and pays homage to the hard work and education of all respected teachers. Mother, the greatest and first teacher in the world, is a woman. So on this day in honor of all the mothers, we organize a cultural event where local women and children participate.

Independence Day

We celebrate Independence Day on 15th August every year through cultural programs by our members. Independence Day is a day to remember the heroic martyrs of our country and their sacrifices. To celebrate this independence, we organize some inspirational plays and events with the help of some children, women, and villagers. On this day we encourage women to take social responsibility and organize some inspirational events to increase their self-reliance.

World Environment Day

In this day and age, our environment is deteriorating every day, therefore, we decided to celebrate this day and make it a mark in our locality’s history. The importance of this day cannot be stressed enough since the environment is where we live in.
Tree plantation, seed ball distribution, rally, poster campaign, leaflet distribution, community meeting, street drama, and meeting with gram panchayat.
The strategy we have adopted is to ensure the participation of children and youths in all activities. The participation of community adults has also been ensured in one activity. On the other hand, we have confirmed the participation of other actors (gram Panchayat pradhan & members) in this day’s celebration activity.

A total of 100 youths, 400 children 4000 community people, and 5 Gram Panchayat members were involved in this process.
Youths acted as the leaders of this whole event. Children and youth brought a major part of the local residents to the event to show their efforts. Both groups planned the rally and its course, the drama and its script, the locations of the tree plantation, made posters for campaigning and made the seed balls. The role of SMOKUS was to provide printed leaflets for distribution, which was designed by youths and children and informed the local people along with youths for community meeting and basically supported the whole event from the background financially. Youths decided on the topic of the community meeting and spoke accordingly in the meeting.
The impact of the event was subtle yet strong. Making the existence of such an event is important enough as it can start off a chain reaction of good deeds. People were inspired to make changes in their lives. Children and youths were very energetic and were very joyous to have the opportunity to be a part of the event. They are so motivated that they want to do these kinds of dramas more frequently and regularly as they believe this can change their society. The beneficiaries asked a lot of questions as to know how to improve the environment more during the time discussion. The drama was very intriguing therefore the audience was very attentive.

International Anti-Child Labour Day

Child-youth-community participation. Through this activity, we tried to sensitize the parents of those kids who were becoming child labours as they grew distant from their education and school because of closed schools. Through this event, we intended to protect the children from being exploited.
The role of youths and children is the most important since they were literally the face of this whole operation. Both the groups made the script of the drama, made the posters, and designed the leaflets. SMOKUS supported the whole event from the background financially and informed the local people along with the youths. The youths chose the topic of the meeting and spoke accordingly.
A total of 5000 beneficiaries were covered.
In the community meeting, community people inform us that they will not include children as labourers they will pursue others to do the same.
Some school teachers of Public schools have participated in the community meeting.
